Gwynn co drives for possible future star on Bulldog
Despite never having driven to notes before young Nick, who is taking part in this years Go-Rallying.com rally scholarship which is ran by Innovation Motorsports, headed to North Wales eager to put some true rallying mileage under his belt, and with George entrusted with guiding him through the stages the pair were under no illusions as to what was expected of them. A finish - plain and simple.

With the weather being typically welsh; i.e. totally unpredictable, the conditions could not have been more difficult for a 20 year old to make his gravel debut but Nick, driving an Innovation Motorsports Peugeot 205 impressed on the first stage with a solid time, but admitted to needing to concentrate more on the notes. Next up was Gatheiniog, and at 14 miles definitely the longest stage that Nick had ever contested. Despite this intense test on his concentration the youngster impressed once more with a very decent time, just inside the top 10 in class!
However Stage 3 dented Nick's confidence slightly when he out braked himself in the slippery conditions and the pair were beached on a bank for over a minute However they redeemed themselves with a flying time on the reverse run through Dyfnant in atrocious weather conditions when Nick, now confident in the car, the notes, and the conditions set his first top 50 time and brought the car home in a highly respectable 13th in class.
'Taking part in the rally scholarship has helped me a lot, allowing me to pick Chris Moore?s brain about a few things. I have only managed to compete on one event before now, and this was my first experience of forest rallying, so to finish 13th in a very competitive class is fantastic. Innovation Motorsports provided me with a great reliable car for the rally, and they really made me feel at home in the team. George was brilliant and he helped me come to grips with pace notes very quickly. I?d like to thank everyone who made today possible and hope to be back next year.'
George, who prepares rally cars for top rallying firm Geoff Jones Motorsport as a day job, will be back in action on 11th November when he rejoins Mark Gamble for the final round of the 2006 'Stars of the Future' British Rally Championship. Meanwhile Nick hopes his performance will help impress the judges of the Go-Rallying.com scholarship as they make their decision as to who will make it to the final next month. The winner receives a full season of rallying
with the Innovation Motorsports team next year.
