MGA and Stratos for HRCR stand at Stoneleigh
The show, now called 'Race Retro' will run from 23-25 March at Stoneleigh Park near Coventry. The HRCR stand will be number G16/F48, where a special show offer on membership will be available, along with details of the HRCR's wide range of events and championships.
Representing the earlier cars is a very special ex-works MGA from 1956, which contrasts spectacularly with the 1973 Lancia Stratos of Steve Perez.
'MJB 167' was a works MGA race and rally car and was notably driven by Pat Moss on the 1956 RAC Rally before being driven by Peter Scott-Russell to second in class on the Mille Miglia two months later. The MGA also contested the 1956 Alpine Rally and the 1957 Liege-Rome-Liege Rally, driven by John Gott.
On the 50th anniversary of its 1956 appearance, 'MJB 167' completed the 2006 Mille Miglia Storica, a regularity event on open roads rather than the pure 1000-mile race on closed roads that it was in the 1950s.
The Lancia Stratos, presented in VK Kick livery, is chassis 1590, making it the 90th of the 500 models built in 1973 and 1974. It was originally a road car, but was later developed for historic rallying by Udo Sparwald in Germany. Now owned by former British Historic Rally champion Steve Perez, the Stratos has been re-prepared for historic stage rallying by BTR Preparations.
The determination of Perez and the BTR team has taken the car through a series of teething problems and reaching the finish of the 2006 Roger Albert Clark Rally was a massive achievement.
This year, Perez will contest selected rounds of the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship with one of the most exciting and evocative cars in historic motorsport.
