Flat out third for Kevin Davies
Based in Oswestry, the event featured only four special stages. The combination of wind, rain and recent logging had left a slippy layer of mud and gravel in the forests of Dyfnant, Dyfi and Gartheiniog. For Davies, of Llanfihangel-ar-Arth and his Newtown based co-driver Shaun O'Gorman, it was a final chance to win a round of the super competitive Fiesta series this year.

Davies was uncharacteristically slow out of the starting blocks on this occasion. Finding the first stage particularly greasy, Davies immediately stepped up his pace on the following Gartheiniog stage to move into contention. A fine fastest time on the Dyfi Main stage showed that Davies had certainly found the pace in his Geoff Jones Motorsport prepared car. Supported by www.rallycarsales.net and X-Cite Motorsport Supplies, Kevin was really flying as he moved into the running for a podium place.
Third fastest time on the final Dyfnant 2 stage was another excellent performance from the MSA British Rally Elite Academy star, as he ended the rally happy in third overall, disappointed not to have started the event at the pace he finished it: "Once again we were so close to winning, but just not quite there!" joked Kevin at the finish. "I'm a bit disappointed we started slowly. It was very slippy early in the Dyfnant stage, and that gave me a few doubts. I knew we dropped time in there, so that was annoying. I pushed a lot harder after that, and Dyfi Main was really great. We were flying in there, so I'm pleased our commitment was rewarded with fastest time. We were very happy to finish on the podium again, and our stage times were competitive all day, so it was a good way to end a really good season. I'd particularly like to thank everyone who has helped us during this season, including all our supporters and all at GJM. Hopefully we can end the year with another good performance on Wales Rally GB".
Davies will contest Wales Rally GB in early December. The final round of the FIA World Rally Championship will take place over three days in South Wales, based in Cardiff and Swansea. Davies won his class on the event last year, and will face stern opposition with the World Fiesta SportingTrophy taking part in the same event. Kevin will look to use his experiences gained last year to full effect when the flag drops on the final event of the year.
