HRCR Open Day is a hit
The Historic Rally Car Register's third Open Day at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon today (Saturday 13 January 2007) drew hundreds of current and future competitors as the club unveiled its programme for the coming year.
The Open Day showcased the comprehensive 2007 HRCR programme with events ranging from scenic tours and daylight regularity rallies to the Dunlop/Gambia MSA British Historic Rally Championship. Event organisers from many of the events on the HRCR championship calendars were on hand as well as organisers from a range of classic rallies.
The organisers of the Tour of Flanders travelled over for the event and both of the new BHRC events – the Pirelli Historic Rally and the Harry Flatters Historic Rally – were present to give competitors more details of their events.
Guest of honour Phil Collins entertained with stories of his rallying exploits, while winners of the 2006 HRCR championship were interviewed on stage. An outside display of over 30 rally cars showed the diversity of HRCR activities, while another 10 'for sale' cars drew lots of interest.
One of the new events represented was the Classic Harvest Tour, an addition to the HRCR scenic tour programme in September. "We've had a brilliant response," said Tony Beale. "We've taken a dozen entries today and we couldn't have expected more than that!"
