M-SPORT SUPPLY COLLEGE STUDENTS WITH FORD FIESTA R2

M-Sport has supplied Myerscough College with the kit needed to build the highly successful Ford Fiesta R2 as part of their course.

Myerscough College, based close to Preston in North West England, specialises in more than 20 different courses for the land-based and sports industries including a BSc (Hons) Motorsport Management and Logistics Degree.

The college has always enjoyed a good relationship with M-Sport and has been working particularly closely with them this year. At the start of 2011, ten Myerscough students were selected to assist the Cumbria-based company’s technical and service teams whilst on FIA WRC Academy events.

The WRC Academy is a new feeder series to the World Rally Championship and is a one-make series where all drivers compete with identical Ford Fiesta R2s prepared by M-Sport.

The project sees the students demonstrate the skills they have been learning on their course in a practical and hands-on environment and the students have travelled to Portugal, Sardinia and Finland with M-Sport. 

This latest opportunity, however, will be available to more than 120 students on motorsport courses at the college in order to help them get to grips with the fundamentals of M-Sport’s global rally car.

Past students at the college have found their niche in M-Sport and have become part of the business while others have blazed their own trail in the motorsport world.

Myerscough College’s Assistant Head of HE Motorsport, Ronnie Sandham, said:

Opportunities like these give our students a fantastic insight into the world of rallying and help provide them with invaluable experience before their chosen career path.”
