The epic battles between Toyota and Lancia in the early 1990s are the stuff of legend, as are the classic confrontations between Carlos Sainz and Juha Kankkunen – two genuine greats of the sport.

In 1990 and 1991, the final round of the season – Britain’s RAC Rally – was the venue for two of the most memorable of these clashes.

Now you can enjoy these incredible events on two brand new DVDs featuring highlights from the 1990 RAC Rally and 1991 RAC Rally. These are the latest additions to the collectable series of classic RAC Rallies on DVD.

In 1990, with the title decided, six World Champions and six major manufacturers were going all out for victory. This highlights programme brings you fast and furious action from four car-breaking days of rallying across some of the most demanding special stages on the calendar.

In addition to Sainz and Kankkunen, you’ll see legends like Ari Vatanen, Markku Alen, Timo Salonen, Miki Biasion and more. Plus, there’s loads of British greats featured, including Malcolm Wilson and a young Colin McRae.

A real highlight of this programme is the chance to enjoy no fewer than six complete special stages from inside the Ford Sierra Cosworth of Wilson, as well as plenty more in-car footage courtesy of Sainz and teammate Armin Schwarz – including an awesome sequence filmed at night!

The DVD brings you all the vital action and some heart-stopping moment – including Pentti Airikkala’s vicious crash on day two. The drama continues right to the end, with an ice patch deciding the outcome.

A year later Sainz and Kankkunen arrived at the RAC locked in a desperate battle for the title. The 1991 RAC highlights programme charts the incredible battle, as well as the amazing performance of McRae as he snatched an unexpected lead from the WRC regulars. His glory was short-lived and, perhaps not surprisingly, his chances of winning ended in a ditch. His roll, and the bid to rescue the stricken Subaru, are captured on this DVD.

Brilliant camera angles capture the action, and there’s in-car footage courtesy of Delecour, Salonen and Wilson – including the Brit’s unfortunate rally-ending incident.
