The Drifting on Tarmac motorsport day provides an adrenalin packed day of high octane thrills and spills, but also provides some expert tuition on car control and handling as this fantastic drifting day teaches you how to take a car up to its limit and control it.

Drifting has become a massively popular motorsport across the world over recent years and here is your chance to learn from top professionals. Drifting is the art of making a car move forwards while it's at a 45 degree angle to the road! You'll actually be spending more time looking out the side window than you would out of the front windscreen! It's total madness! Drifting requires immense skill so you'll need to pay attention if you want to become an expert at it and take away knowledge that could help your future driving.

Your introduction to drifting will start with a safety and technique briefing which is followed by the instructor getting you familiarised with the car. Then your instructor will teach you important aspects to drifting, such as a cars weight distribution and throttle balance. There are different drifting styles you will learn, for example, controlled powerslides where you will use the rear of the car to steer, moving forwards while the car is at 45 degrees to the track and the constant powerslide where you are using the throttle to make directional changes whilst in a constant slide. The experience will end with a debrief.

This experience is available on selected dates, throughout the year in Northamptonshire – Rockingham. The experience will last approximately 1 to1½ hours and the minimum age for this experience is 17 years old. There is a minimum height of 1.52m (5ft) and the maximum height is 1.93m (6ft 4in). The maximum weight is 114kg (18 stone). All drivers will need to have held a full drivers licence for a minimum of one year which will need to be produced on the day.

Your driving session is shared between up to three other drivers and you're welcome to bring spectators to watch.

Whilst a rally or track day can be great fun, the drifting day allows you to gain valuable experience which you never know, might one day help you and your car out of trouble on the road - not to mention that you’ll have a whole heap of fun taking a car to its sideways limits on the day!
