The event was particularly close at the top of the leaderboard, and after three days of punishing competition out on the punishing gravel stages, the top three were separated by less than thirty seconds! In the end, a final push by Solberg saw him clinch the win just eighteen seconds ahead of Sebastian Loeb in his Citroen Xsara, with Harry Rovanpera taking third in the Peugeot 307.
