The 1995 RAC Rally was the culmination of a fantastic years rallying in the World Rally Championship calendar, dominated by the efforts of Carlos Sainz and Colin McRae, both driving Prodrive Subaru Impreza’s. The WRC drivers title went right down to the wire with either of them capable of lifting the trophy, and after three gruelling legs over four days, Colin McRae proved victorious taking the event win and with it, the1995 driver’s title.

The atmosphere out on the event that year was electric, and seemingly the whole country was behind Colin and his bid to lift the title. There were countless twists and turns throughout the event which only added to the drama, and for rally fans up and down the country, the memories of Colin and Derek doing donuts in the L555 BAT registration Impreza at Chester Racecourse after the final time control will never be forgotten – at least not by me!
